There is no woman who does not dream of being dressed in Paris.

Paris, je t'aime.

Through May 9, the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City is running two exhibitions based on Parisian photography - Twilight Visions: Surrealism, Photography and Paris and Atget, Archivist of Paris.

The former focuses on the fantastical, avant-garde works of Surrealist artists in the 1920s and 30s, especially as photography was just beginning to gain in popularity. Through these photographers' vivid imaginations, the "modern urban life" of Paris is presented. The latter collection is a collection of 26 of Atget's vintage photographs of Paris' "dreamlike urban spaces" in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Current Obsession: Techno Prints

Let's just discuss my new obsession: bright, sporty, vibrant, surf-style techno prints. For spring, I'm pretty sure that nothing else is better! And who does these better than Proenza Schouler and Peter Pilotto in their spring/summer 2010 collections? Check out these prints - how anyone is even able to put these on fabric is far beyond me. At Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez put together a collection of tie-dyes, yellows, blues, greens, and purples, recalling the California shore. Peter Pilotto featured uniquely printed dresses, with streaks of painted colors livening up draped yet structured gray garments. (Check the price points on your own, they're a little too depressing to post!)

Anyone else in the mood to go ride a wave now? Or at least go out to dinner looking like you want to?

Internship Series, Part 1: Skirts

As spring arrives, a dreaded question looms for every young person - what to do for the summer? For those who choose the job route, especially women, a more pressing question is felt - one that centers around fashion, of course. If you are interning somewhere, what can you wear? How can you look professional but not old or trendy without seeming too young? To trend or not to trend: the conundrum.
How can you look presentable in a working atmosphere without spending everything you'll earn by August?

Based on personal experience, I know that most of my summer clothing is clearly inappropriate - denim miniskirts are definitely not for the office! You don't want to be the one pulling down a too-tight, too-short skirt as you walk by the reception desk every morning...so here are some options to keep a fresh, summery, and still fashionable look that will impress everyone from your boss and your co-workers at work during the day to your friends for drinks at night!

1. CLASSIC: Trina Turk 'Barrett' Skirt ($186) - Before you protest, yes, I know it's tweed! But this skirt is far from old or dowdy in any sort of way. The multicolored, sparkly threads woven throughout the garment and the shiny gold buttons on the waist ensure its dominance in any room. Pair with a brightly colored, sheer blouse and black heels to ground the look.

2. SWEET/ROMANTIC: Kate Spade 'Marsha' Skirt ($325) - This perky, fire-engine red skirt with oversized flowers will liven up any outfit. Pair it with a crisp white blouse, nude heels and a statement necklace for a professional look that will still attract tons of attention!
No matter what you wear, always err on the side of caution, no too-short hemlines! Also: always keep your personality, never wear anything you feel uncomfortable in!

3. EDGY: Helmut Lang Cellophane Print Skirt ($345) - For the edgy lady who wants to show off her style skills to the maximum...do not wear this without confidence!! This drapy silk skirt with a techno print will elevate any outfit - go classic, go trendy, you cannot do anything wrong. My personal choice? With a strong black or white blazer and strappy black heels.
